Double Layered Necklace
Light passes straight through the amethyst and stops dead at the onyx. The whole piece is built on that one difference.
Two stones that behave in opposite ways. Amethyst is translucent, pale at one end of a nugget and violet at the other, with the internal banding of natural quartz showing through. Black onyx is completely opaque — faceted into briolette drops that return light in hard white flashes and give back nothing else.
Between them sit small clusters of freshwater pearl, capping each drop where it meets the chain. They are the pause between the two extremes, and they are the reason a necklace of purple and black reads as soft rather than severe. The chain itself is coiled silver wire, textured rather than polished, so the metal never competes with the stones.
The Amethyst
Tumbled and faceted nuggets, no two the same shade. The pale-to-violet shift within a single stone is natural quartz zoning.
The Black Onyx
Cut as faceted briolettes and hung as drops. Opaque black gives the necklace its weight and holds the pale stones in place.
The Pearl Clusters
Three or four small freshwater pearls at every junction, softening the meeting point between chain and stone.

- Keep it out of direct sunlight, in the pouch provided. Amethyst is the one stone here that can pale with long light exposure — storage matters more than wear.
- Put it on last, once perfume and hairspray have dried, and wipe with a soft dry cloth afterwards.
- No silver dip, no ultrasonic cleaner. A dip flattens the texture of the coiled silver and damages both pearl and the polish on the onyx facets.
- Lay the two layers flat to store so they do not twist around each other.

Do the earrings come with it?
Yes. The price is for the complete set — the 19-inch double-layered necklace and the 5.5 cm matching earrings, which repeat the same amethyst nuggets and pearl clusters on a silver wire hook.
Are the stones natural?
Yes, amethyst and black onyx, both cut from natural stone. The clearest evidence is in the amethyst itself: the colour runs from near-colourless through pale lilac to a deeper violet, and on several nuggets that shift happens within one stone. That banding is how amethyst grows.
A necklace where every purple bead matched every other exactly would be the one to question, not this.
Will the amethyst fade?
It can, with prolonged strong light. Amethyst holds its colour indefinitely in normal wear, but months of direct sunlight — a jewellery dish on a sunny windowsill, a display case by a window — will lighten it, and that change cannot be reversed.
The fix is simply where you keep it. Stored in its pouch in a drawer, the colour stays as it arrived for a lifetime.
How does 19 inches sit?
Nineteen inches puts the upper layer just below the collarbone and the lower layer across the top of the chest, with the centre drop falling a little further. It sits open on the body rather than close at the throat.
That makes it a necklace for a wide or scooped neckline. Against a closed high neck the lower layer lands on fabric instead of skin and the drops lose their outline.
What should I wear it with?
Plain and unworked, in one colour. Black, ivory, grey, deep green, mustard, or a plain silk saree with a simple blouse — the necklace already carries two stones, a metal and a pearl, and a printed or heavily embroidered fabric makes five things competing.
The earrings are part of the set, so wear those and nothing else at the ear. No second necklace: the two layers are already doing that job.
