Oxidised 92.5 Silver · Blue Inlay

Azure Cascade

Geometric Danglers

7.5 cmDrop Length
2.3 cmWidth
92.5Sterling Silver
HookSilver Wire

A run of flat geometric plates — diamond, triangle, tapered bar — falling one from the next, each one smaller than the last. The eye follows them down, which is what makes the drop read as a cascade rather than a stack.

The silver is oxidised, darkened deliberately so the raised edges stay bright while the recesses go almost black. Set into that dark ground, the blue inlay is the only colour in the piece, and it carries the whole earring.

The Geometry

Three plate shapes in sequence, each narrower than the one above, so the drop tapers instead of hanging square.

The Oxidised Finish

Darkened silver that throws the cut lines into relief. It is a finish on the metal, not a plating over it.

The Blue Inlay

Colour set flush into the silver rather than sitting on top of it, so nothing catches on fabric.

Care
  • Never use a silver dip or polishing liquid. Oxidation is a darkening of the surface, and a dip strips it off — the earring comes out flat and bright, and it cannot be put back at home.
  • Wipe with a soft dry cloth after wearing. Clean only the raised bright edges if you polish at all, never the dark recesses.
  • Keep away from water, perfume and hairspray, and store in the pouch provided.
Note

All our jewellery is handcrafted, and hence some variations may occur, which only add to its beauty.

Questions

Is 7.5 cm long for an earring?

Yes — this is a statement length. Most danglers sit between 4 and 5 cm. At 7.5 cm these fall well below the jawline, roughly to the base of the neck on most people.

They need room to be seen. Hair tied back or tucked behind the ear, and a neckline that is either bare or high and plain. Against loose hair or a busy collar the lower plates disappear.

Are they heavy?

No. The plates are flat cut-outs rather than solid volume, so the earring is long without being weighty — they hang from the lobe rather than pull on it, and stay comfortable through an evening.

Will the oxidised finish rub off?

The bright edges will brighten further with wear, which is intended — that contrast between polished edge and dark recess is what gives oxidised silver its depth, and it sharpens as the piece is used.

What does remove the finish is chemical cleaning. A silver dip, an ultrasonic cleaner or a strong polishing liquid strips the oxidation in seconds and leaves the earring flat and uniformly bright.

Will the hook suit sensitive ears?

The wire hook is sterling silver, the same as the rest of the earring, so there is no base metal against the piercing. Most people who react to fashion-metal earrings wear sterling without trouble.

What do these go with?

They sit naturally with black, white, grey, indigo and denim, where the blue is the only colour in the outfit. They also carry a plain silk kurta or a saree in a solid shade.

Keep the neck bare when you wear them. At this length a necklace competes for the same space, and the cascade stops reading as one line.
