This is a wide bracelet — two and a half centimetres of it — and it is meant to be seen. The lapis is natural stone, so no two beads carry the same map of gold pyrite and white calcite running through the blue. The pearls between them are real freshwater pearls, small and round, and they do the quiet work: they break the density of the blue so the piece reads as jewellery rather than as a band of stone.
The Materials
Two stones that were never meant to compete
Most multi-strand bracelets repeat one bead in one colour and rely on volume alone. This one sets two materials against each other and lets the contrast carry the design.
Natural Lapis Lazuli
Opaque, saturated, faintly flecked with brassy pyrite. It absorbs light instead of returning it, which is what gives the piece its weight on the eye.
Natural Fresh Pearl
Small, luminous, slightly irregular. Pearl returns light softly. Placed between the lapis, it lifts the blue and keeps the four strands legible as strands.
Why it works
Contrast needs a connecting thread. Here the thread is scale — every bead, stone or pearl, is small and round. The colours argue; the shapes agree.
The Making
Strung by hand, finished in gold-plated brass
Each strand is strung individually and then gathered into a flat bar terminal at either end, set with a line of stones so the closure reads as part of the design rather than as hardware. The extension chain adds two inches, which means the same bracelet sits close on a narrow wrist and still closes comfortably on a broader one.
Because the strands are separate rather than woven, the bracelet moves. It settles differently each time you put it on, and it shifts as you use your hands. That movement is deliberate.
A stack you have to hold still is not finished. A piece that moves and still looks composed is.
Wearing It
How to wear it
At 2.5 cm wide, this is the strongest thing on the wrist. It does not need company, and it does not want an argument.
- Wear it alone, or with one quiet piece. A thin gold bangle on the same wrist will read as a frame. A second wide bracelet will read as clutter.
- Give it bare wrist. Three-quarter and short sleeves suit it. A cuff that ends at the wrist bone fights it for the same space.
- Blue is the constant, gold is the variable. It sits naturally against ivory, cream, white, indigo, black and grey. Against a warm ochre or mustard, the pyrite in the lapis is what ties the two together.
- If you wear a watch, use the other wrist. On a shared wrist the watch becomes the hero and this bracelet stops being one.
- Keep the ears simple when you wear it. Small pearl or gold studs. Anything blue at the ear duplicates the point instead of extending it.

Care
- Put it on last, after perfume, lotion and hairspray have dried. Both lapis and pearl are porous, and both dull with repeated contact.
- Wipe with a soft dry cloth after wearing. No water, no ultrasonic cleaner, no jewellery dip.
- Store it flat and on its own, away from harder stones that can scratch the lapis and abrade the pearl.
- Remove it before swimming, bathing and sleeping. Gold plating lasts longest when it stays dry.

Is the lapis lazuli natural stone?
Yes. The beads are natural lapis lazuli, which is why the colour varies from bead to bead and why some beads carry visible flecks of gold pyrite and threads of white calcite. Uniform, flawless blue usually indicates dyed or reconstituted stone.
Are the pearls real?
Yes. They are natural freshwater pearls. Their small size differences and slight surface irregularity are characteristics of real pearl, not faults.
Will it fit my wrist?
The bracelet is 7 inches long with a 2-inch extension chain, so it adjusts anywhere between roughly 6 and 9 inches. That covers most wrists. Measure just above the wrist bone with a tape or a strip of paper and add about half an inch for comfort on a wide bracelet like this one.
How long does the gold plating last?
Plating is a surface, not a solid. Kept dry, wiped after wearing and stored away from other jewellery, it holds its colour for years of regular wear. Contact with water, perfume, sweat and cosmetics is what shortens it.
Can I wear it every day?
It is built to be worn, but at 2.5 cm wide it is an occasion piece more than a desk piece. It will catch on sleeves and keyboards. For daily wear, something narrower serves better.
Can I wear it with a watch?
Better on the opposite wrist. On the same wrist as a watch, the two compete for the same visual field and neither reads clearly. If you must share a wrist, leave a clear gap and accept that the watch leads.
