HANDCRAFTED 925 STERLING SILVER | BARMER
The Blue of the Night, The Reflection of the Moon
The Story
When night settles over the Thar Desert, the colours of the landscape slowly disappear. The sky deepens into shades of blue, and the last traces of daylight give way to the quiet beauty of the evening. It is this richness of colour that inspires the Madhu Chandrika Sapphire Night Mirror Earrings.
Handcrafted in 925 sterling silver, these earrings bring together vivid cobalt-blue mirrors, traditional floral forms and delicate suspended elements. The striking blue surfaces contrast with the silver outlines, creating a design that is both richly decorative and carefully balanced.
Each earring begins with a small circular blue mirror at the top. Below it, two pointed petal-like forms spread outward, followed by three teardrop shapes arranged into a floral composition. The arrangement gives the upper section an almost wing-like appearance.
Three silver-linked elements descend from the floral section. The two outer chains end in blue teardrop mirrors, while the longer central chain leads to a distinctive lotus-inspired motif. Its curved blue base surrounds three upward-facing petals, forming a small stylised flower. A final blue teardrop hangs beneath, completing the elongated design.
The earrings draw inspiration from the traditional sheesha mirrorwork associated with Barmer, Rajasthan. For generations, small mirrors have been used in embroidered textiles and traditional ornaments of the Thar Desert. Their reflective surfaces introduce light and colour into geometric and floral patterns. These earrings interpret that heritage through sterling silver and deep blue mirror detailing.
Measuring 7 cm in length and 2.5 cm in width, the earrings have an elegant vertical silhouette. The hanging elements move naturally with the wearer, allowing the blue surfaces to catch changing light. Their rich colour pairs beautifully with ivory, white, black, silver-grey, cream and muted gold.
Wear them with a silk saree, a handwoven cotton saree, a festive kurta or a contemporary evening outfit. Their strong colour and intricate form allow them to stand alone without elaborate additional jewellery.
Part of Totapari's Madhu Chandrika Collection, the Sapphire Night Earrings celebrate the meeting of desert mirrorwork, floral artistry and the deep blue beauty of the night. The result is a distinctive piece of handcrafted silver jewellery rooted in traditional design.

Care & Keeping
Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth after wearing. Keep away from water, perfumes, cosmetics and harsh cleaning solutions. Avoid abrasive polishing cloths and chemical silver dips, particularly around the mirror settings. Protect the blue mirror inlays from impact and scratching. When storing, allow the suspended elements to lie freely to prevent tangling. Keep separately in a dry, protective pouch or box.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. Does Sapphire Night mean these earrings contain sapphire gemstones?
No. Sapphire Night is the design name, inspired by the deep blue colour of a night sky. The earrings feature blue-coloured mirror inlays set in 925 sterling silver. They do not contain sapphire gemstones.
2. Which parts of the earrings move independently?
The earrings have three suspended sections below the upper floral motif. The two shorter outer sections end in teardrop-shaped blue mirrors. The longer central section carries the lotus-inspired motif and its final teardrop. These linked elements allow natural movement and changing reflections when worn.
3. What clothing and hairstyles best complement these blue statement earrings?
The vivid blue colour stands out beautifully against ivory, white, cream, black and silver-grey clothing. A saree, simple kurta or contemporary evening dress can all work well. Hair tied back or arranged behind the ears allows the complete 7 cm design, including its suspended lotus motif, to remain visible. Minimal neck jewellery helps preserve visual balance.
