925 Sterling Silver Madhu Chandrika Nomad Night Multicolour Mirror Earrings

HANDCRAFTED 925 STERLING SILVER | BARMER

The Colours of the Desert, The Spirit of the Wanderer

The Story

The Thar Desert may appear restrained in colour, but the traditional clothing, embroidery and ornaments of its communities tell a different story. Brilliant reds, greens, blues and oranges appear against the earth-toned landscape, creating a remarkable contrast between the desert and the people who inhabit it.

The 925 Sterling Silver Madhu Chandrika Nomad Night Multicolour Mirror Earrings draw inspiration from this colourful artistic heritage. Handcrafted in 925 sterling silver, they bring together an elaborate arrangement of coloured mirrors, floral forms, a crescent-shaped centre and delicate silver bead detailing.

Each earring begins with a slender cobalt-blue teardrop mirror. Beneath it, two small green circular mirrors sit above a pair of broad red-orange petals, creating a stylised floral arrangement. Tiny silver bead clusters frame the motif, adding texture to the brightly coloured surfaces.

A connecting silver ring leads to the larger lower section. Here, a round blue mirror rests above a prominent amber-gold crescent, giving the design its distinctive centre. Around the crescent, coloured mirrors spread outward in a fan-like composition, combining pointed petals, rounded forms and small circular accents.

The lower arrangement is especially rich in detail. Mirrors in orange, red, emerald green, cobalt blue and violet-blue are individually outlined in silver. Small bead clusters punctuate the edges, while the differently shaped mirrors create a lively rhythm of colour and reflection.

The design recalls the traditional sheesha mirrorwork associated with Barmer, Rajasthan. In the embroidered textiles of the Thar, mirrors are arranged among coloured threads and geometric patterns, bringing flashes of reflected light into richly decorated surfaces. The Nomad Night Earrings reinterpret this visual language in handcrafted silver jewellery.

The name Nomad Night evokes the journeys, ornaments and artistic traditions of desert communities. Its multicoloured design is not a literal reproduction of a single historical ornament, but a contemporary expression inspired by the visual richness of Rajasthan's traditional mirrorwork.

Measuring 7 cm in length and 4.5 cm in width, these earrings have a broad, decorative silhouette. The upper and lower sections are connected by a silver ring, allowing a degree of natural movement. Their width gives the colourful fan-shaped arrangement sufficient space to display its intricate detailing.

Pair them with a plain black saree, an ivory kurta, indigo cotton, earthy linen or a richly coloured festive ensemble. The combination of several mirror colours makes them particularly versatile, while their elaborate form is best complemented by restrained neck jewellery.

Part of Totapari's Madhu Chandrika Collection, the Nomad Night Earrings celebrate the meeting of traditional mirror artistry, handcrafted sterling silver and the extraordinary colour vocabulary of the Thar Desert.

Care & Keeping

Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth after wearing. Keep away from water, perfumes, cosmetics and harsh cleaning solutions. Avoid abrasive polishing and chemical silver dips, particularly around the coloured mirror settings. Protect the mirrors from scratches and impact. Handle the connecting rings and small silver bead details carefully. Store each earring separately in a dry, protective pouch or jewellery box to preserve its handcrafted finish.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What makes the Nomad Night Earrings different from other designs in the Madhu Chandrika Collection?

The Nomad Night Earrings combine several mirror colours within a single design rather than concentrating on one dominant shade. Their distinctive features include a cobalt-blue teardrop top, red and green floral elements, a large amber-gold crescent and a broad fan-shaped arrangement of multicoloured mirrors. The small silver bead clusters add another layer of handcrafted detail.

2. How does the 4.5 cm width influence the appearance and styling of these earrings?

At 4.5 cm wide, the earrings have a noticeably broad lower section. This gives the multicoloured fan motif room to stand out and makes the design more prominent than a narrow dangling earring. They work particularly well with tied-back hair, simple necklines and minimal necklaces. Their 7 cm length and elaborate construction should also be considered according to individual preferences for earring size and weight.

3. Are the coloured sections gemstones, and how should the mirrorwork be protected?

The coloured sections are decorative mirror inlays, not gemstones. Their reflective surfaces create the bright multicoloured appearance of the earrings. To protect them, avoid knocks, scratching, chemical cleaners and prolonged moisture exposure. Gently wipe the silver with a soft, dry cloth and store the earrings separately so that their decorative surfaces do not rub against other jewellery.
