SRIYANTRA is the most profound geometric symbolism in Hindu Philosophy and spiritual practices.
Timeline of its origin is unclear. Sriyantra is a Sanskrit Word. Sanskrit Language itself is about 5000 years old. This proves that Sriyantra is a an old sacred complex geometrical shape used for worship, devotion and meditation.
Meaning of SRI YANTRA
Sri yantra is a combination of two words- Sri and Yantra. In Sanskrit, ‘Sri’ means wealth and Yantra means instrument.
The Hindu scriptures (Vedanta Philosophy) say that human mind has different stages of growth and progress.
Mind means thoughts. Since our mind lives externally in the world around us, through our senses, we can say it is a worldly mind. It does not leave the world thought even for a little while.
Our mind typically focuses on external things. We can shift our focus inward by paying attention to our inner self, the consciousness. This means turning away the mind from the external world.
This is difficult but possible with the help of rigorous practices. Hindu Vedanta philosophy mentions these practices. This defines the levels of growth our mind as per Vedanta philosophy. As the mind turns inward, it is at a higher level of growth in spirituality.
Wealth can have different meanings based on a person's mindset and growth, as discussed in the previous paragraph.

‘Yantra’ in Sanskrit refers to a machine or tool. In medieval times, Yantra used to signify a mystical diagram. This diagram helps us focus on our mind inward. In other words this means that we use it as a prop or support for withdrawing our senses and helping the mind to turn inward.
A Yantra often has Mantras inscribed inside a yantra to indicate that we use them together. Yantras can also be used for medicinal or healing purposes, casting spells or removing obstacles from whatever the worshipper is desiring.
The enchanting diagram of SRI YANTRA consists of nine triangles that intersect at various points to form 43 smaller triangles. The four triangles pointing upwards, represent shive or masculine. The five triangles pointing downwards, symbolizing female embodiment, or Shakti.
The triangles are surrounded by a lotus with eight petals and another with sixteen petals. These representing creation and the life force.
The outer frame denotes a sanctuary resembling a temple with four openings to the regions of the universe. Every line, triangle and lotus petal symbolises a specific type of energy.
Everything in cosmos can be traced down to a single point called bindu. The point represents the unmanifest, the absolute reality- the consciousness.
Sri Yantra is a symbol representing the ultimate reality of existence and the interconnection of all things in the universe.
